A coaster is the small piece placed under a tea glass or coffee cup; it protects the table from rings and heat. LaMua coasters measure 15x15 cm, have a laminated surface and are laser cut: they do not absorb liquid, wipe clean with a damp cloth and their edges do not curl.

Single coasters and 2 placemats + 2 coasters sets are available. Four are recommended for tea time for four, six for guests. Every pattern collection includes a matching table runner, placemat and cushion cover; the coaster usually goes at the top right corner of the placemat.

Fabric or laminated?

A fabric coaster absorbs liquid and needs washing; a laminated coaster does not stain, and a drop of tea leaves no mark once wiped. What Is a Coaster?

A coaster is a small mat placed between the glass of a hot or cold drink and the table surface. It catches the condensation that collects on the outside of a cold glass and prevents the ring mark a hot glass leaves on a wooden surface. Because it stops permanent marks on wooden, glass and marble tables, it is practical protection.

What Size Are the Coasters?

The coasters in the collection measure 15x15 cm. This size comfortably takes the base of everyday glasses, from water glasses and mugs to tea glasses and tall drink glasses, without taking up more space on the table than needed.

Alongside single products, the collection includes sets offered together with placemats; the contents and number of pieces are listed on each product page. By combining placemats, a runner and coasters from the same pattern series, you can set the whole table in a single series.

What Are the Coasters Made Of?

LaMua Home coasters are made of 100% polyester laminated fabric and are laser cut. The laminated surface does not absorb liquid, and the laser-cut edge is sealed by heat so it does not fray. Unlike cork or ceramic coasters, they do not break and stay thin.

How Do You Clean a Coaster?

  • Wipe with a damp cloth; for stubborn stains use mildly soapy water.
  • Do not machine wash or leave soaking in water.
  • Do not iron; heat damages the laminated surface.
  • Do not use bleach, abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  • Store flat and dry.

What to Look For When Choosing a Coaster

First check the base diameter of the glass you use most; the coaster should be clearly larger than the base. Then decide on the surface: wipeable laminated coasters resist tea and coffee stains. Finally, think about how the pattern matches the rest of your table; pairing them with placemats from the same series is the easiest way.
